The pattern linked here is the result of a lot of trial and error. Some might be smart enough to keep track of things in their head, or with a counter. I, on the other hand, must write everything down. These directions document all your steps! I print a copy for every pair of socks, or I erase. I printed a new copy every time for a while so that I could work through it and edit it as I found mistakes or better methods. I think I'm done editing!
