I'm so excited! While reading my cousin Wendy's most current blog post I discovered that she too found some kitchen red to share with me on her recent thrifting excursion! Click the link above to take a look!
Well, we must be in synch! After posting this afternoon, I checked your blog and whaddya' know? You also had posted about a red kitchen thrift store find! How big is that canister? It reminds me of a "biscuit tin" or some such thing for keeping your cookies or crackers crisp on your kitchen counter. Tell Anna her cookies made my mouth water, those are my favorite kind of cookies. Good with cold milk or hot tea. Yummmmmm! And tell Micah I think his craftsmanship is amazing! The kitchen just keeps getting better and better. So, I want to get the plates to you somehow. I'm watching for gaps in the calendar. Maybe when the kitchen is ready for painting, we could work on it together -- it'll go quicker. What kind of textile influence are you thinking in for curtains, teatowels, etc.? Red gingham? (Or even navy gingham a la Alicia Paulson--Anna would like that.) Red ticking stripe? Toile? Alpine/Scandinavian? (That's what I envision the most.) Quilting calicoes? Any other theme? How about chicken wire on white frame for the door over the freezer cabinet? (Only if you go for the country/prairie-type style...) Let me know, I have a few bits of fabric in my stash, remnants and such, saved for a red and white kitchen...
I always picture gingham, but I don't want to go too country. Then I add in a little Red ticking stripe, then I consider toile, and also, the first inspiration, and tablecloth from Grams closet...the one pictured on my table in my Epiphany Gathering post in early January. I can't seem to find the post. Anyway, it has worn out areas, so I'd pictured cutting it up to make pieces here and there, but I just don't know if it would be enough...thus the thought of other patterns, or a combination of patterns. I even thought of adding a bit of muted mustard yellow, inspired from the old scale on top of my fridge. Chicken wire, framed...now that's an idea to ponder!!!
Yes, help during the painting stage would be GREAT!
